Jason Cassel currently serves as a piano technician for the Brigham Young University School of Music. He graduated with his MA in piano technology from Florida State University and earned his BM in commercial music from BYU. Jason has served as a senior piano technician for the Aspen Music Festival and has received manufacturer training from Steinway & Sons, Yamaha, Mason & Hamlin, and Renner USA.
Jason is a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG), where he serves as both a certified tuning and technical examiner. He has received the Jack Greenfield Award in recognition of his nearly three dozen articles in the Piano Technicians Journal. Additional publications include an e-book on harpsichord maintenance published by Piano Technician Tutorials, and six instructional video courses on aural tuning, available through www.onpitch.com.
Jason is a sought-after instructor at PTG conventions and has been a guest presenter for Piano Technicians Masterclasses, the North Bennet Street School, the Professional Piano Technicians Network, and the Piano Technology School in the United Kingdom.
Outside of piano work, Jason enjoys hiking, family bike rides, traveling, and building Legos with his kids. He also loves exploring America’s national parks and has a goal to visit all of them!
Jason lives in Provo, Utah, with his wife and their two sons.
